Use this app to connect to MPRs spirometer device - Spiro. Spiro is a custom, MPR developed embedded device for measuring patient air flow and volume. The device uses a pressure sensor to measure pressure across the device orifice. The devices onboard control unit converts the pressure readings into patient air flow, and transmits the flow data to iOS devices running the SpiroIII app using Bluetooth Low Energy.
App users first connect to the Spiro device. Once connected, the user begins a timed session, at which point the patient expires air into the device orifice. During the session, flow and volume data is received from the Spiro device and visually displayed in the app in real-time. On session completion, users can view the flow and volume results for the session through plots, and have the option to upload the results to an AWS hosted server for future reference.
Warning: the Spiro device and SpiroIII app should NOT be used for actual spirometer procedures. Data gathered by the device is not calibrated. The device and app simply mock the procedure as a demonstration of MPRs capabilities to develop a connected embedded device.
